Death was due to complication of diseases, due to age and infirmities. She was the daughter of Curtis and Betsy McCloud., who were natives of Vermont. All the care and love that a skilled physican and an affectionate son and loving grand-daughter could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought into play, but the fiat of Him who rules our incomings and out- goings had been issued, despite the entreaties of all who knew and loved her, and their appeals were overruled. No mother ever received better attention or was more tenderly cared for in her declining days than that administered to Mrs. Bennett by her son, John, and grand daughter Mrs. John Bishop. Vain in any attempt to measure the loss of a mother to her children after all the poets have sung and lovers dreamed, outside of heaven there is no love like mother love. We believe the tender care devoted to those nearest and dearest, went with her to the better land, and in the possibilities of eternity, may be needed hereafter. We fancy her waiting them in the place prepared for her a little apart from the innumberable company in bright array. In the light, not of the sun, neither of the moon, we see her beyond the fields of fadeless asphodel, under the waiving palms, beside the still waters bordered with silver lilies. These may be merely figures, but they bear a precious meaning to yearning hearts made for the deep household loves; hearts what will not be comforted because the Angel of the House is missing. Impressive funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. A.L.Rogers assisted by Rev. A.B.Johnson after which all that was mortal of this grand old mother of Israel was tenderly conveyed to our Silent City, where, by the side of devoted husband she now rests in peace. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. Harriett McCloud Bennett was born February 8, 1835, departed this life March 11, 1916, 81 yrears, 1 month and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Nelson T. Bennett on Easter Sunday, April 4th, 58 years ago. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union, the daughter and father gone before, leaving the two sons, William E. and John S. Bennett, also eight grand-children and seven great- grand-children. Additional Comments: Milford Center Cemetery Union Twp. Union County, Oh.
