The funeral of John A. Welch, a pioneer of Union county, was held yesterday from the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.F. Jackson, near this city. Mr. Welch was 87 and had been a resident of this county over fifty years. He was born in Vermont and with his parents came to Licking county when he was quite young. In the early fifties he would frequently make trips from Licking county to Union county on horseback, stopping in Columbus when the town was not much more than a village. He leaves a wife, to whom he was married 62 years ago and six children, twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
