He came with his father's (John Parthemore)family from Virginia, and settled on the Darby Plains in what is now the Southern part of Union county, in 1812, and has resided within Union county ever since. He bought land in the wild woods over fifty years ago, when and where the howling of wolves and owls was an every night occurrence. Deer and other game were also plenty, and he was a great deer hunter and killed his full share of them. He married a Miss Thornton and settled on his land and commenced clearing it up and made a good home for himself and family, and resided on the same till his death. He raised a family of three daughters. His wife died many years ago, and since that his youngest daughter died, leaving one child, a son. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Monroe, and Mrs. Gabriel and their families to morn his loss. He was always industrious and honest, honorable in all his dealings with his fellow man, always jolly and pleasant with his neighbors and friends when he met them, and always had a joke of some kind, and a pleasant how do you do.I never new of him having an enemy, but the respect of all who knew him. Politically he was always a regular Jackson Democrat, and never let up. Religiously he was liberal in his views, never made any profession, but tried to do right because it was right to do so, and was content. Your correspondent has been personally acquainted with the deceased for about seventy years. But he has gone now where sorrows and troubles do not exist. A Pioneer.
