July 20, 1829. His parents moved to this country when he was eight years old. He was the fourth child of a family of ten children, two of which, Mrs. Lovina Spain and George Poling, remain to mourn his loss. He was married to Sadian Barker in 1855, having lived together 51 years. Mr. Poling joined church at the age of about 21 years, was baptized and took an active part in church work for several years. He was a man of good judgment, honored and respected by his neighbors. He was honest and upright in all his dealings. He held several positions of test, the last of which being superintendent of the public roads, and always discharged his duties faithfully and to the satisfaction of his follow man. Mr. Poling was a man of robust health, and, considering his age, was feeling well up to about a week before his death when he was compelled to take his bed. His illness was of short duration. He died October 9, being 77 years, 2 months and 19 days old. He bore his sufferings without a murmur and said he was ready to go. He leaves a widow who was always his close companion and shared all his troubles. No children were born to this union They were always devoted to each other and lived a happy life.
