March 23,----Just as he took his seat on the platform in the choir corner of the tabernacle, preceding the Billy Sunday revival services, Rev. P.P.Pope, pastor of Grace M.E. church, wavered and fell into the arms of brother ministers. He was carried outside, but was dead when physicians reached his side, Death was the result of an apoplectic stroke, following excitement. Rev. Parker P. Pope was pastor of the Marysville M. E. church in 1879-80, succeeding the Rev. John Francis Davies. Rev. Pope's first wife died during his pastorate here and he was subsequently married to Miss Herbert, who survives. Mrs. Pope returned only Wednesday from a Chicago hospital, and the excitement incident to this home coming is thought to have been partially responsible for the apoplectic stroke to Rev. Pope, whose age was sixty-five years. The present Mrs. Pope is a sister of the late Rev. T.L. Wiltsee's first wife, and an aunt of Mrs. Dana J. Demorest and Mrs. Ralph H. Demorest.
