Pope, 63, highly esteemed citizen at his home, 600 Kentucky avenue, at 2:45 o’clock Saturday morning, Sept. 17. Mr. Pope had been able to be up and about during much of his invalidism, but recently had been compelled to take to his bed. The funeral will be held Monday morning at St. Joseph’s church at 8:30, Rev. C. F. Reineck officiating, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Charles W. Pope was born in Jackson township, on the Greensburg pike Oct. 12, 1859, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pope. The father died when he was small, and the mother passed away 22 years ago. On Sept. 30, 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary K. Miller, the wife who survives. For a period of 28 years. Pope was a resident of Fremont and Sandusky county, and then with his family he moved to Marysville, O. where they resided until 11 years ago, when, owing to the poor health of the husband and father, they returned to Fremont, his boyhood home, making their home here ever since. While in Marysville he was engaged in the pump and supply business and he left many staunch friends there when he came back to Fremont. In this city he was employed at the Crescent Mfg. Co., where he labored faithfully and industriously. Mr. and Mrs. Pope were the parents of two sons, Charles f. and Adam Henry, the latter married, both living and resident at home with the parents. There are two grandchildren, also one brother Justin Pope-Johnson of Fostoria, who was taken into the Johnson family when he was small, and four half brothers, Ellis Donnel, of Greensburg; Frank, Joy and Linden Donnell of Toledo. Mr. Pope was a member of St. Joseph’s church and Independent Order of Red Men and fraternally he was affiliated with the Maccabee lodge.
