The Marysville Tribune, December 6, 1905
Mr. Joseph Porter was born March 15, 1827, in Washington county, Pa., and died 
December 1, 1905, at Jerome, Ohio, in the 78th year of his age. He leaves a 
wife and six children to mourn his loss. He was a veteran of the civil war. He 
was a brave soldier, a kind husband and father, a good and true Christian. In 
his youth he united with the U. P. church, an example to young men. The funeral 
services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 3, by Rev. R. C. Finney at New California.
