Pioneer Resident of Van Wert County Passes Away at Home of Son After Long 
Illness.
     Calvin C. Gamble, a widely known and highly respected resident of Van Wert 
county, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, Verne G. Gamble, of 
Jennings road, having been in failing health for the past year. Mr Gamble was 
aged 87 years and had resided in Van Wert county for the past eighty years 
having spent the greater part of his life as a resident of Ridge township. Mr. 
Gamble was an affable gentleman and enjoyed the esteem of a very wide circle of 
friends. His direct survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Osborn, of Hoaglin 
township, a son, Verne G. Gamble, two grandchildren, Kathryn and Richard 
Gamble, a brother, George L. Gamble, of Cleveland, a sister, Mrs. Jason 
Johnson, of South Washington street, and two half-brothers, Omer Gamble, of Van 
Wert, and C. W. Gamble, of Mishawaka, Indiana. The funeral will be held 
Thursday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, at the First Methodist Episcopal Church, 
of which he was a devout member. Internment will be made at Woodland cemetery.
