Himmelright, one of the earliest and best known citizens of Delphos, departed this life on Friday morning, the 21st inst., aged sixty-nine years. He suffered long and severely from a complication of diseases, which finally culminated in Bright's disease of the kidneys, terminating as above. The deceased established the first woolen mill in this place, at a very early date, and amassed a competency, which after reverses swept away and left him comparatively poor. Throughout his long business career he did his might for the advancement of Delphos, giving cheerfully of his means, in his prosperous days, to every enterprise. He was held in high esteem by all, and the familiar and kindly face of 'Uncle Sammy' will be missed by the majority of our people. The funeral took place on Sunday morning from the M.E. Church, of which he was a devoted and life-long member. He was also a member of the Masonic and Odd- Fellow fraternities, as well as of Washington Fire Company, all of which organizations, headed by the Germania Band, attended the obsequies. The funeral was one of the largest ever witnessed in this place. A separate Masonic obituary: On the Death of S.F. Himmelright The following whereas and resolutions on the death of S.F. Himmelright were adopted by Hope Lodge, No. 214, F. and A.M.: Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God to remove from our midst the soul of our late Bro. S.F. Himmelright; and in this dispensation of Providence a vacancy has been caused in our ranks; therefore RESOLVED, That in the death of Bro. Himmelright this community has lost an old and esteemed citizen; that a kind husband and father has been taken away; and our Society has lost a member whose venerable form and genial countenance has often lightened up our Lodge Room; and whose quiet, unassuming manner and kindly ways had so won our hearts that his removal will leave a vacant place there that will be hard to fill. RESOLVED, That we bow in submission to Him who doeth all things well; that we will cherish the virtues of our late Bro. and over his foibles (whatever they may have been) we will draw the mantle of Masonic charity, and to the widow and friends of the deceased we extend a Mason's sympathy. RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions be handed to the widow of our departed Bro. J.H. Cowdin, Ch'm. Com.
