She had lived near Elgin all her life being one of the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Slentz, who were pioneers of this county and lived and died on their old homestead, one mile south of Elgin. Mrs. Hughes was one of the best of women, having sought and found her Savior in early life, and lived and died in full triumph of a living faith. Before she died she saw her Savior and the angles around her room waiting to carry her home. She leaves a husband, four little children, four brothers and five sisters. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. J. Shear, at the Tomlinson church on Tuesday, were her remains lie in peaceful rest.
