A can of oil was beside a stove melted and it caught fire. Her daughter in law Mrs Jacob McCarty and her 2 sons managed to get out of the 3 room home and had attempted to get Catherine from her bed but the heat was too intense. Mrs McCarty was born January 6,1858 at Vinton Township, in Vinton county. She was the wife of Riley McCarty .Her husband preceded her in death as did 4 children Nancy, James, William and Raymond . She was survived by her sons sons Peter of Oreton, Luther of McArthur,Herman of Wellston, George of Detroit, John of Virginia and Jacob of Dayton. She was buried in the Middlefork Cemetery, Vinton County, by the side of her husband and daughter. Additional Comments: Catherine was the daughter of George and Elenore "Nellie" (Allman) Allman.
