He worked in the mill owned by Gilman and Gold andwas an expert miller. He also worked a short time at Zaleski and in Londonderry, Ross County for a time. He married Mary D. Haines, a young woman of Londonderry,March 3, 1868, and they had one daughter Hattie, now, Mrs Thomas Dowd.He built four houses in town on Jackson and South streets. He was married again to Margaret J. Salts on October 15, 1876. She was the daughter of Stephen Salts and they had three children of this marriage survives him; being two boys and one girl. Mr Brine moved near to McArthur Junction, where his wife lived and owned land, livestock and other property. . He was a large, fleshy man, weighing over two hundred pounds. He had e good health until a short time before his death, when he complained of being unwell.A short time before his death, he received a small cut on his hand while roofing his houses. It was Ersyipelas (otherwise known as cellulitis- a skin infection. He was taken care of by Dr Sylvester and Dr Sweptson. He died at 5:45 pm on Saturday September 29th. He was a member of the Christian Church, as well as a member of the I.O.O. F. and K.P. , under whose auspices the funeral was conducted on Monday by the Rev Roush of Nelsonville preaching the sermon.
