Cox and M.S. Cox for a number of years. He was born in Richland Township, Vinton county on October 23, 1859. He was the 3rd son of James G Cox and Nancy Graves Cox. As a child he was a victim of Scarlet Fever which left him speechless and destroyed his hearing. He was educated in Columbus at the Institution for the Education of the Deaf. As a young man he joined the Christian Church at Union, near his home in Richland township. Surviving are his four brothers; T.S. Cox, teacher at Richland, L.S. Cox a teacher at Hawk, Dr. O.S. Cox of McArthur and M.S. Cox Superintendent of McArthur Schools. His parents, one brother and only sister preceeded him in death many years ago. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church with Rev R.E. Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Elk cemetery. P Gaskill was the funeral director. The pall bearers were John Cole, IIber Fri, Levi Trainer, Miles Dawson, Sidney Landman and Andrew J Martindill. Additional Comments: T.S. Cox = Thomas Seth Cox, L.S. Cox = Lewis Seneca Cox. O.S.
