Water st., who died May 21 was held in the Fawcett-Oliver and Glass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Everett Heskett officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. Born Feb. 29, 1908 in Clarksburg to Minos and Ella Speakman Smith, he was married Oct. 28, 1932, to Mary Schneider, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Carole) Evans, Chillicothe, Mrs. Elwood (Sylvia) Long, Columbus, Mrs. Donna Fadal, Athens, and Mrs. Larry (Diana) La Tourette, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a son, Richard A. Smith, Lyndon; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Clarel Tomlinson, Morganfield, Ky. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. A welder at the Mead Corp. 38 years, retiring in 1970, he was a member of the United Paperworkers International Union Local 731. James Russell Rhoads James Russell Rhoads, 68, of 824 Maple Street, Washington C.H. died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003 at 1:28 a.m. at his residence. He had been ill four years. Mr. Rhoads was born April 12, 1935 in Ross Co. at Bainbridge to Ora Everett and Thelma Cox Rhoads. He lived most of his life in this community. He was a metal handler at Palm Harbor Homes in Sabina for 13 years before his retirement in 1989. He formerly was a race horse trainer. Mr. Rhoads was preceded in death by his father in 1945 and a brother, Frank Rhoads in 1999. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Sue Peters whom he married July 14, 1967; a son, Timothy Rhoads and a daughter, Kimberly Rhoads, all of 824 Maple Street; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Rhoads of 434 S. North St.; his mother, Thelma Knisley, a resident of the Auburn Manor Nursing Home; two brothers, David Rhoads of 2636 Reynolds Road-NW and Robert Rhoads and his wife, Linda, of Greenfield and two sisters, Joann Davis and her husband, Perry, of 909 Briar Ave. and Shirley Betts of Modesto, California. The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C. H. with Faye Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Fayette Co., Inc., P.O. Box 849, Washington C. H., Ohio 43160.
