McAdams was born in Ashtabula County, Oh, on April 22, 1839 to Joseph Mc Adam, (son and Andrew McAdam and Jennet McCarty, ), and Ruth A.Nettleton. He married Permelia Wilcox daughter of Henry Wilcox, Stow, Summit Co, Oh. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. The youngest son, Frederick E passed away in June 1895 in London England. The daughter Lois M.Mcadams Taylor, the youngest of the family passed away in Cleveland Ohio in July 1903. His wife and two sons, Henry L and Emmett E McAdams, ten granchildren and two great grandchildren and two brothers Henry P and George A are left to mourn their loss. Mr. McAdams served four years in the Civil War and took part in a great many of the severent battles. He marched along the side of General Sherman and was promoted by General Sherman in Rank during the Battle of Gettysburg, PA. During this time he was promoted to the rank of Captain. He was a member of the OVI 29th regiment, which is well known in Summit and Ashtabula counties from which most of the regiment was raised. During the war his health was much impaired from exposure. A few years after the war he moved his family to Hudson, Oh, where he entered the employ of the O.A & O Railroad. After over 20 yrs of service on the railway his general health began to giveway, and he obliged to retire his position. He had lived a retired life for the past ten years. About two years ago his wife's health being poor, they decided to leave their old home in Hudson and live with their son Henry in Orrville. He peacefully passed away on the night of May 28th, aged 73 years one month and six days. The family had lived in Hudson for over 30 years and have many friends here who will long remember his as a kind and obliging neighbor. The funeral servies were held from the Hudson Congretional Church on Saturday June 1, and the body laid to rest by the side of his daughters in the beautiful Markillie cemetery. "Our dear one is gone, but not forgotten, Anchored safe where storms are o'er. Call not back the dear departed, soon to meet and pass no more. Now our hearts are sad and lonely, How we miss him none can tell. But we know, his is free from trouble, In our Fathers Mansion fair." His wife and sons. Additional Comments: Lyman H McAdams, was born into an ancestry of Christain faith, his granfather was born in Scotland, was a member of the Wigtownshire Presbyterians, his father was born in Fulton Co Ny, christened in the Fulton Co Presbyterian Church in West Galway, Perth NY, along with two other brothers James and Walter. His Great Grandson Henry "Hank" McAdams is an ordained minister and pastor of New Christian Church in Dry Ridge KY. Another of his Grandsons Leo McAdams left a million dollars in his will, to the United Methodist Church in Clearwater Pinellas Co, Still living the family of Joseph and Frances Noble McAdams children in Fla and NC, they embrace with their faith in "Christ our Lord", A Legacy of the will of the Wigtownshire McAdams of the 16th Century Scotland ancestry.
