A retired employee of Republic Steel Co. at Massillon, he was born Oct. 16, 1889 in Knox Twp., the son of John and Martha Forsythe Kennedy, and was a member of Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church, Navarre. He had resided in Navarre for 32 years. Mr. Kennedy leaves one son, Harry of Williamstown, N.J.; one step-son, Harry R. Nelson, Canal Fulton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Naomi Gamble, Cuyahoga Falls; one sister, Mrs. Clark McDonald, New Concord; four grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Flora E. Howell, died in November 1968. Friends may call at the Bientz Chapel, Gordon-Shaidnagle-Hollinger Funeral Home, Navarre, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Clayton Gortner officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. Martin BECHTEL, an aged citizen, residing on East Tuscarawas street, died Sunday morning at seven o’clock of heart failure. He was eighty-two years of age. He leaves a family of eight grown children. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 o’clock p.m. from the German Reformed church. Interment at Rowland Cemetery. Mrs. Margaret BACHTEL, widow of Martin BACHTEL, died at the home of her son, David BACHTEL, 1,525 East Tuscarawas street, about midnight Sunday. Surrounded by grief stricken relatives she passed peacefully away at the advanced age of 82 years. On July 16 last, Mrs. BACHTEL was stricken with paralysis. The deceased was born in Jackson township, but practically all of her life was spent in Canton. She married Martin BACHTEL in 1836, and 11 children were born to the union, six of whom survive. Her husband lived to celebrate the golden anniversary of their marriage, but died nine years ago. For many years he was the proprietor of the Farmers hotel, in North Market street. Mrs. BACHTEL saw Canton grow from a small village to a city. She was a member of the German Reformed church. Besides her children, 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive, and with a large circle of friends, mourn her death. The children are David BACHTEL of Canton; John BACHTEL of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mrs. Margaret REED, Mrs. Ella HARMON, Mrs. Libbied MILLARD, all of this city, and Martin BACHTEL. The funeral will take place from the residence at 9:30 o’clock and from Trinity Reformed church at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning. The services will be conducted by Revs. SCHUMUCKER, STRASSNER and HERBRUCK. The remains will be interred in Rowland cemetery. Additional Comments: Her maiden name was WINTRODE.
