Crawford, 82, of Seaman, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at the Brown County Hospital. She was born Jan. 13, 1921 in Adams County, the daughter of the late Curtis and Estella (Lovett) Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Crawford, in 1985. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at the Seaman Church of Christ with Ernie Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Tranquility Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman and from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. DAVIS Mrs. Grace Mills Davis, 64, South Lebanon, formerly of Greenfield, died 5:30 a.m. Friday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. Born January 14, 1915, in Vinton County, she was the daughter of John L. and Laura Coy George. Mrs. Davis had been an employee of the American Pad & Textile Company. She was a member of the Church of God in South Lebanon and the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries. She was married March 4, 1961, to John H. Davis, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Laura George, Cameron dr., Greenfield Rt. 3; five daughters, Miss Phyllis Mills, Greenfield Rt. 3; Mrs. Laura Stevens, South Lebanon; Mrs. Ruth Rapier, Oregonia; Miss Sherry Mills, South Lebanon; and Miss Mary Davis, South Lebanon; a son, Richard Allen Mills, Martinville; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Lawrence George, Greenfield. A son, a daughter, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield, with Rev. J. D. She married Lawrence H. Palte who died in 1962. Mrs. Palte was secretary of St. Anthony's Parish. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, Catholics Ladies of Columbia and the Bowers-Slusser American Legion Post Auxiliary. Survivors include a son, Lawrence J. Palte of Columbus Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Marge) Hohenbrink of Ottawa; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Marge R. Pierson, 89, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Administration Center in Dayton following an extended illness. He had made his home with his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Sharalyn Pierson of Lima, since 1982. Mr. Pierson was born Jan 17, 1899 in Canal Winchester, the son of John C. and Nancy Leach Pierson. He married Mae Halishak who is deceased. He owned and operated Pierson's Tavern in Cleveland until retirement in 1964. He attended Calvary Chapel in Minster. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I and World War II on board mine sweeping vessels. Survivors also include a sister, Mrs. F.T. (Evelyn) Lang of Minster. Services will be at 11 a.m. at Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen, Rev. Dr. Frank H. Hamblen officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery there. Also surviving are a son; Dean of Fremont; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Jean) DeLong of Rt. 4; four grandchildren; a brother, Victor of Rockford; a sister Mrs. Myrtle Brandt of Celina. He was a grinder at Clark Equipment Co., Lima Division and its 25-year club. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lima. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church, Rev. Clyde A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery north of Cridersville. Mrs. Pierson was the executive director of the West Central Ohio Chapter of the March of Dimes for 16 years. For 10 years, she taught kindergarten in her home on North Dixie Highway. She was a member of Bluelick United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Westerville High School. Survivors include a son Dr. Dennis James Pierson of Lima; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Sandra Kay) Petsch of Cincinnati, Mrs. Terry (Deborah Sue) Badertscher of Findlay and Mrs. Richard (Sheryl Lynne) Crawford of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren; and a brother Thomas P. Brundige of Columbus. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Siferd Westwood Chapel, Rev. William Hesse officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton, where she was a pre- school program teacher, communion distributor and worked in the church food assistance program. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 370 and Moose Lodge 199. Survivors include one son, Dan G. Pugsley of Elida; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Patricia) King of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 g-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Hedge of Kokomo, Ind., and Garth Lee Hedge of Circleville, Ind.; and two sisters, Nancy Strange and Phyllis Green, both of Speedway, Ind. Another sister, Betty Smart, died on Aug 1. Services will be at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery.
