CARMAN BESSIE HOLLAR CARMAN, 92, Centerfield, formerly of Greenfield, died 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Oakland Nursing Center in Hillsboro. She had been ill for five years. Born May 25, 1887, in Ross County, she was a daughter of GEORGE F. and ALICE MILLER HOLLAR. Mrs. Carman had been employed for 30 years at Johnson Dry Cleaners. Her husband, WILBUR C. CARMAN, died May 12, 1954. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. AUDRA PUCKETT, Centerfield; a son, KENNETH K. CARMAN, Hillsboro; 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, JOHN HOLLAR, Lyndon, and a sister, Mrs. DWIGHT (GEORGIA) STOUT, Greenfield. Two sons, three daughters, four sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Murray's Funeral Home, Greenfield, with burial in South Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of other remembrances, contributions may be made to the Greenfield Area Life Squad. Additional Comments: Bessie Hollar Carman's middle name was Agnes. The sons preceding her in death were Robert and Theodore Carman. One of the three daughters preceding her in death was named Myrtle Marie Carman. The names of Bessie's sisters were Molly Idella Hollar, Georgia Celesta (Hollar) Stout, Lulu Olive Hollar, Nellie Marie Hollar, and Katherine "Katie" Irene Hollar. The names of Bessie's brothers were Herbert David Hollar and John Martin Hollar. Bessie's mother, Alice Oretta (Miller) Hollar, was the daughter of Thomas Garland Miller and Nancy Agnes (Hixson) Miller. RYAN GLEN RYAN, 80, 9053 Lower Twin rd, Lyndon, died 6:55 p.m. Sunday in Greenfield Municipal Hospital. Born April 10, 1899, in Ross County, he was a son of ARTHUR and SUSAN BEATTY RYAN. Mr. Ryan was a farmer in the South Salem area and member of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ. He was married Dec. 24, 1922, to RENA SPURGEON RYAN, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, CLARENCE RYAN, Lyndon, and RALPH RYAN, Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. CHARLES (BERTHA) NEEL and FLORENCE WORCESTER, both of Lyndon, and Mrs. DARLENE CHAPMAN, Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 4 step- grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, RALEIGH and OTIS RYAN, both of Stoutsville, and MARTIN RYAN, Lancaster, and a sister, Mrs. HAZEL SPITLER, Columbus. A son, ROBERT RYAN, and four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at the International Pentecostal Church of Christ with Rev. Wayne Combs officiating and burial in South Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Murray's Funeral Home, Greenfield, and from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church. HESTER of Greenfield and JOE HESTER of South Salem; nine grandchildren; a step-brother, BUD BROWN of Ironton; and a step-sister, ANNA MARIE BLAIN of Chillicothe. One sister preceded her in death.
