BESTOW, wife of Hon. John C.Bestow. Mrs. B. was a native of Sharon, Litchfield county, Connecticut; was born Feb. 23d, 1802; was married to Mr. Bestow February 7th, 1841. Their connection has been pleasant, mutually enjoying the full confidence of each other, and the society of friends and neighbors. She was suddenly and unexpectedly called away. She will be much missed, and lamented in the House of God, and by acquaintances, and in the domestic circle; but by none so keenly as by him, whose house is now the third time left desolate. Mrs. B.united with the Presbyterian Church,in Chester, previous to her marriage, and has ever since maintained an honorable membership. The deceased was born in Tyrone Co., Ireland 1790. At age 10 he came with his parents and settled in Chester county, Pennsylvania. At age 25 he united with the Presbyterian Church at Allegheny, Pennsylvania where he resided until 1847 when he removed to Columbiana Co., Ohio. About two years since, he came to Pomeroy and remained up to the time of his death. Mr. Middleswart was born in Allegheny County, Pa., in 1810, and while but a boy, moved to Washington County, O., and in 1837 came to Meigs County, where he remained until his death. Mr. Middleswart's employment was that of farming, and as such was a perfect pattern. He was one of those men that had a place for everything, and kept everything in its place. As a neighbor, he was kind and obliging. He leaves a companion, and five children, together with a large circle of friends, to mourn his loss. Additional Comments: Franklin married Mary A. Williamson Sept 18, 1842 in Meigs Co., Ohio. He is buried Middleswart Cemtery in Lebanon Twp. Cemetery is north of Portland, take township Road 432 off of St. Rt 124. Franklin was 49 years 7 months 9 days old at the time of his death. He was the father of Susan A., Alice, Clayton, Orval and Emery. Miss Church held on to the craft, and was finally rescued, but her companions above named, perished before relief could be afforded. Their bodies have not yet been recovered. The sudden death of these interesting young people has thrown a gloom over a large circle of friends and acquaintances, and has left a void in the home of their parents which will be filled no more on earth.
