He was born in Washington C.H. on Nov. 28, 1945 to DONALD E. and MARILYN (COOPER) GRAVES. He was a lifelong citizen of Washington C.H. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam era Veteran. He was a fertilizer applicator for Southwest Landmark. He was a member of the Paul Hughey Post 25, American Legion. Mr. Graves also enjoyed golf and fishing. He was born Dec. 17, 1921 in Adams County, the son of NOAH SPURGEON and ROSA SCOTT SPURGEON. His parents are deceased. He was a retired farmer and retired from Colonial Stair Case in Jeffersonville. He was a member of the Sedalia Church of Christ in Christian Union, graduated from Port William High School in 1939, was a veteran of WWII Army, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. JOHN F. HUGHES JOHN F. HUGHES, 86, formerly of 1686 U.S. Route 35-SE died Thursday, March 20, 1997 at 11:53 a.m. shortly after arrival at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hughes was born at Pancake Chapel in Madison County, Ohio to JESSIE J. HUGHES and ADDIE B. FOSTER HUGHES. He lived most of his life in this community. Before his retirement he was a furnace mechanic with Wilson's Furnace Service. He was a member of Fayette Aerie No. 423 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. CLARYCE ALVERDA SMITH CLARYCE ALVERDA SMITH, 93, Sabina, formerly of Lees Creek, died at Autumn Years Nursing Center, Monday, Nov. 1, 2004. She was born in Adams County, Dec. 9, 1910, the daughter of the late THOMAS LEROY (ROY) and ELLA MAE POWELL SPURGEON. She graduated from Wayne Township High School. On Sept. 30, 1933, she married GLENN E. SMITH and he preceded her in death May 2, 1981 after 48 years of marriage. One sister, LOIS REESE, of Sabina and lots of nieces and nephews survive her. CLARYCE ALVERDA SMITH CLARYCE ALVERDA SMITH, 93, Sabina, formerly of Lees Creek, died at Autumn Years Nursing Center, Monday, Nov. 1, 2004. She was born in Adams County, Dec. 9, 1910, the daughter of the late THOMAS LEROY (ROY) and ELLA MAE POWELL SPURGEON. She graduated from Wayne Township High School. On Sept. 30, 1933, she married GLENN E. SMITH and he preceded her in death May 2, 1981 after 48 years of marriage. One sister, LOIS REESE, of Sabina and lots of nieces and nephews survive her.
