Mrs. Free was born in Ross County on Oct. 9, 1932, the daughter of the late RALPH J. and HORTENSE B. ICE MILLER. She was a member of the Frankfort Church of Christ. An avid music lover, she was well known as one of the former members of the singing group "Four Miller Sisters" who entertained in many places with her three sisters. She was a 4-H Horse Advisor and room mother. Mrs. Free worked six years at Valley View Nursing Home. She also worked alongside her husband in plastic factories. Finally, after about four years, she retired from Greenfield Research. On Aug. 5, 1950, she married GLEN D. "JAKE" FREE who preceded her in death on March 15, 1998. She also was preceded in death by a brother, RALPH MILLER JR., father and mother-in-law, GLEN R. and ETHEL FREE, and her sister-in-law, LULA BELLE CLYNE. Surviving are five children, GLEN D. EMANUEL L. HIGGINBOTHAM EMANUEL L. HIGGINBOTHAM (Higgy), 58, of Frankfort, died at 11:31 a.m. July 18, 2001 in his home surrounded by his family and friends, after an extended illness. Emmanuel was born May 27, 1943, in Bainbridge, the son of FRANK and BERNICE (COTTRILL) HIGGINBOTHAM, both of whom preceded him in death. Emanuel was retired from Armco/Steelox Systems, of Washington Court House. His life was passionately spent hunting, fishing, playing euchre, caring for his dogs, gardening, providing for his family and worshiping in his home. He felt honored and blessed to have owned and maintained his family's farm for the past 28 years. He is survived by his incredibly loving and eternally faithful wife, IRENE (COCHENOUR) HIGGINBOTHAM; his three children, GLEN (BETH) HIGGINBOTHAM of Frankfort, TONIA (TIM) NESSER of Bainbridge, and EMANUEL HIGGINBOTHAM of Columbus; granddaughters, ELIZABETH NESSER and TALLI, EMILY, AUBREE and DAISEY MAE HIGGINBOTHAM; siblings, TED, DIXIE, HARVEY, SUSAN SMITH, JOHN, DIANE SMITH, BEVERLY COREY, all of Frankfort, and ROBIN COREY, of Bourneville, as well as scores of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
