ELZA N. MILLER ELZA N. MILLER, 90, Mount St. Mary Dr., Nelsonville, died Sunday morning in Pine Hills Nursing Center, following an extended illness. Born Dec. 18, 1899 in Vinton County, son of the late GEORGE THOMAS MILLER and CLARA MARGARET MCKEE MILLER, he was preceded in death by his wife, EVELYN MARGUERITE OSSMAN MILLER, who died Aug. 9, 1986. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers Union. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. HAROLD (RUTH) WARREN and ALICE LASH, both of Nelsonville, Mrs. PAUL (DORIS) RAVER of Groveport, and Mrs. DANNY (MARILYN) HITCHINGS of Palm City, Fla.; a son, ALAN MILLER of Columbus; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were five brothers, AUSTIN, CHARLES, JOSEPH MACK, DEWEY and WILBUR MILLER; five sisters, LULU, MEADE, MAGGIE, and NETTIE MILLER, and DOROTHY WINTERMUTE. She is survived by ED (MARGARET) JONES of Lilburn, Ga., and JERRY (CONNIE) JONES; sister, EVELYN ROUCH of Hillsboro; two half sisters, BETTY EVANS and PAULINE MCCLEARY, and two half-brothers, FRED BENNETT and EDWIN BENNETT, all of Columbus; nine grandchildren, TOM TAYLOR, CAROLYN MCCOY, TERESA RONNICKER, CHERYL BEHM, JODI RALPH, BARRY JONES, MARCI REEVES, TIM JONES, and MIKE JONES; 17 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, DONALD JONES, on May 23, 1981, whom she married Feb. 29, 1935; daughter, JEAN TAYLOR; son, GLENN JONES, sister, MARIE SHAFFER; and granddaughter, JULIE JONES. A graduate of McClain High School in 1933, she was a member of the South Salem Presbyterian where she was active with the Women's Association and also Presbytery. Mrs. Copeland was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Greenfield where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 45 years. She was retired from the American Pad and Textile Co. in Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, IRA COPELAND, who died March 31, 1985; four brothers; six sisters, and both parents. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, WILLIAM L. and MARTHA COPELAND of Washington C.H.; two granddaughters, VICKI (MIKE) CLAY of Washington C.H. and JONI (JIM) MCLEAN of Reynoldsburg; great-grandchildren; a special niece, PATTI PENWELL of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 4964 and was a Hospice volunteer of Fayette County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1975 and by one brother, LEROY MITCHELL.
