He ha been ill with a lung fever for about 3 weeks. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Bethel Church under the Elder Harkins,and was baptised by the same in October 1889. He was married to Mary E. Jacobs, April 15, 1804 in Lima, Ohio. To this marriage was born two sons and three daughters, all of whom with the mother survive. the deceased was born in McArthur where he has always lived except for a few years in Indiana. He served in the Union army during theCivil War but never obtained a pension although he had a claim pending for several years. The funeral took place on Sunday at the Bethel Church of Christ with Rev. Angel officiating. He had been an invalid for some time and was confined to his room. Mr. Cassill was born July 9th 1820 and at the time of his death was 62 years and 11 days old. Mr Cassill was married May 25th 1840 to Miss Mary Ann Radclif. To this marriage was born six children, four of whom survive their father, two having died in infancy. Mrs Cassill died April 22, 1860. His second marriage was on December 27, 1860 to Miss Mary L Martindill , and from this marriage two children were born, one of whom survives her father. Anthony Cassill was baptized into the Disciple Church many years ago and was a consistent member until his death. He lived to see six of his children grow to maturity, and the five who survive him, with their mother are all also members of the same church. Some weeks before his death he made all the arrangements for his funeral. The services wer held at the Union church near his home on Saturday, with Elder A.J. Watt officiating. Burial was in the Cassill cemetery. Additional Comments: Children from the first marriage were Abraham, Mary Ellen, Timothy, George B.,Eliza, Nettie A., I am unsure of the children from the 2nd marriage. On November 24th, 1870 she married W. J. Bowen. To this marriage was born seven children, George, Emma, Jerry, Laura, Homer, Gomer and Walter. Emma and Jerry died several years previous. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized on March 12th, 1886 by Eld. L. R. Devore. The services were held in the LDS Church at Vales Mills. The service as in charge of A.B. Kirkendall and S. J. Jeffers. The song service was conducted by the Chapman brothers and sisters, relatives of Mrs Bowen, Burial was made in the Bowen Cemetery ." Cox and M.S. Cox for a number of years. He was born in Richland Township, Vinton county on October 23, 1859. He was the 3rd son of James G Cox and Nancy Graves Cox. As a child he was a victim of Scarlet Fever which left him speechless and destroyed his hearing. He was educated in Columbus at the Institution for the Education of the Deaf. As a young man he joined the Christian Church at Union, near his home in Richland township. Surviving are his four brothers; T.S. Cox, teacher at Richland, L.S. Cox a teacher at Hawk, Dr. O.S. Cox of McArthur and M.S. Cox Superintendent of McArthur Schools. His parents, one brother and only sister preceeded him in death many years ago. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church with Rev R.E. Stevens officiating. Burial was in the Elk cemetery. P Gaskill was the funeral director. Cox was born July 21. 1822 and died July 18, 1889 at the age of 67 years, 22 months and 22 days. James G. Cox was the fifth child of Thomas Cox and Sarah Bruce. He was born near Frankfort, Ross County, Ohio. His parents moved to Vinton County Ohio (at the time Jackson County) when James was four years old, and lived near Allensville. He was married to Nancy Graves in 1852. They had seven children Thomas S., Lewis S.,Alfred S.,Benson S., Oscar S., Milton S., and Mattie M., all of who survive their father except Benson S., he having died in the year 1862. Mr. Cox was a farmer.He joined the Disciple Church in 1862 of which he was a lifelong member. Elder H. Sherman officiated the funeral at the church .Burial was in the Wycoff Cemetery. Nutt and Miss A.G. Potter of Dayton who were on their way to Albany. The accident happened on the hill,a short distance east of the home of Albert Pearse. Apparently there was a rough place in the road that changed the course of the motor cycle, which crashed into the car causing it to turn over and threw out the occupants. Albert Pearse and Harley Sims who were standing at the side of the road near Mr Pearse's home, heard the crash when the accident occured. They rushed to the scene and found Allman lying on the road under his motorcycle. His skull was crushed, his face and body horribly mangled and bruised. Dr. James was called and Allman was taken to his home at Prattsville. He was later taken to Zaleski and from there over the B & O to Chillicothe, where he was taken to the hospital, but he died just after reaching Chillicothe. Mr. Nutt and Miss Poitter the occupants of the car did not have any serious injuries. Miss Potter had a dislocated shoulder, which Dr. James attended to and after remaining here over night at the Will Housecontinued on their way Monday in their car which had been repaired at the Martindill Bros garage. Pearl Allman, victim of the accident was a World War ! Soldier and served over seas. He lefton October 2, 1917 and mustered into the service at Camp Sherman and served throughout the war.After his discharge from the army he had lived with his mother in Prattsville. He was 33 years old. Surviving are his father and mother, one brother and two sisters.Funeral services were held in the Church at Prattsville, Tuesday at 1:30p.m. conducted by Rev. Moore. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Zaleski. His associates of the Zaleski Post were the pallbearers. Burial was in the Prattsville Cemetery. His father was Henry DePue, a native of New Jersey and a Revolutionary soldier at Princeton, Trenton and Valley Forge. After the war for independence, he crossed the mountains to the wilds of the Greenbriar Valley, where he married Miss Maze. As newlyweds they crossed over to Little Kanawha River and settled himself at the mouth of the West, where he died many years ago. Archibald, his third son born 1815 in Lewis County, Virginia married, and after the marriage settled on the banks of the Little Kanawha near the mouth of the West Fork, cleared and cultivated a farm, rolled logs, built churches, school houses , and making roads etc. Many years ago Mr. De Pue became a professor of religion in the Baptist denomination, in which he remained faithful. Near the end of the Civil War, he sold his farm on the Little Kanawha and looked to Ohio, and settled imself in Vinton County, Ohio.He is buried in the Cassill Cemetery. Gordy was born in Circleville, Ohio August 29, 1824,and was married to Nelson Hoffhine at Somerset, Ohio in 1842.To this marriage was born five daughters, two of whom died in childhood, the other three Mary R. Craig, Eliza M. Cox and Ivy E. Poffenbarger. The two former are yet living, the latter died in 1905. She departed this life on October 21, 1914 at the age of ninety years, one month and twenty two days. Sunday, according to word received in this city. Her husband died in Springfield in 1921. Mrs. Thomas had been spending the winter season in California for a number of years.
