Moore. The cause of the death was a complication of nervous diseases from which for several years she had been an intense, though patient, sufferer. The funeral services will be held Monday at 10 am from the residence, and private interment will be made in the cemetery at Calcutta. Rev. Taggart will conduct the services. The remains may be viewed at the residence from 7 to 9 o’clock Saturday evening and from 6 to 7 o’clock Sunday evening. The maiden name of the deceased was Sarah Jane Martin and she was born in Beaver County, PA, January 2, 1830, being 72 years of age at the time of her death. At an early age she removed to St. Clair Township where, November 1, 1849, she was married to John W. Moore, who survives her. They lived in St. Clair Township until 11 years ago, when they removed to the residence on Fifth Street, where they have lived ever since. Two years ago they celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Moore had been a conscientious Christian and a member of the United Presbyterian church since early girlhood. She was an unusually bright woman in spite of her suffering in after life, bore it patiently and was always of a mild, even temperament. Besides the husband, she is survived by a brother Harvey Martin of this city, and a sister, Mrs. J.H. Abrams, also of East Liverpool. Judge Martin, a brother, preceded her to the grave. Three children are left, John W. Jr. of this city, James L. of Madison Township, and Mrs. S.P. Saint, of St. Clair Township. Davidson died Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, at his home on Broadway Street. His death was due to locomotor ataxia. With his death, there passed away one of the oldest and most prominent of Wellsville’s citizens. Born and reared in the city, he had been, all his life, up to the time he was stricken with the disease that took him away, identified with all that was best for the city. He was prominent not only in public affairs, but, as a husband and a father, and as a churchman, his life was above reproach. The whole community sincerely mourns his death. It was just one year ago last Saturday that Mr. Davidson was able to walk with assistance upstairs to his room, to which he has ever since been confined Mr. Davidson was born in September 1838, at the corner of what is now Third and Lisbon Streets, where the chapel now stands. He served in this regiment for a time, but was afterward transferred to the river flotilla and saw service in it all during the remainder of the war. He was present at the time the gunboats ran the batteries at Vicksburg. After the close of the war he returned to Wellsville, and reusmed his trade.’ Mr. Davidson has been honored on several occasions with positions of trust by the citizens of his native town. He was, in 1880, elected a member of the first board of water works trustees of the city and was secretary of that body. He was also an assessor in the Second ward and held other positions of public trust. He was a staunch Methodist and during his years in active life was a teacher in the Sunday school of that church. He leaves a wife, three sons – Jesse, William and Way. The funeral services will be held at his late residence at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. They will be conducted by Rev. E.D.
