Mrs. HESS was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel KILGORE, of Kilgore Ridge, near Delta. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nina GAINES, of Lima, O, and Mrs. Paul CONSTABLE, Texas; two sons, John HESSS, Fort Wayne, Ind. and Martin HESS, Van Buren, O; five sisters, Mrs. Veasey COLVIN and Mrs. Milton FREY, near Delta, Mrs. Harvey ANDERSON, Chanceford, Mrs. Luch BOYD and Mrs. COOPER, of York; three brothers, Charles, Hugh and Elmer, of York. The funeral was held on Wednesday from her late home. MARGARET HESS Widow of John M. HESS, late of Lower Chanceford twp., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel A. WISE, near Bryansville, on Friday, Sept. 1, 1911, aged 84 years, 4 months, 12 days. The funeral took place on Sunday, services conducted by Rev. Nathan B. Smith, at Salem M.E. church, where interment took place. Pallbearers were grandsons Nathan J., J. Bunyan, W. Chester and Walter A. WISE, James HESS, James A. MOBLEY, John L. Norris undertaker. Mrs. HESS was a German descent, and was born at Spring Grove, this county, but after marriage she lived in Lower Chanceford township until a few years ago when she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ann WISE. About five years ago she was stricken with paralysis from which she largely recovered, though her speech was considerably affected. For a time however, she could speak the German tongue quite well. She was a good mother, friend and neighbor, full of kindness and good deeds. She was a member of Salem church about 60 years. She is survived by five children, Jasper R., Bowling Green, Ohio, J. Bunyan, M. Luther, and Alva E. HESS, of Lower Chanceford township, and Mrs. Ruth Anna WISE, of Peach Bottom township; also by about 22 grand children, and several great grand children. Her husband died December 25, 1865 - 45 years ago. Additional Comments: Lower Chanceford township, Peach Bottom townsip, Bryansville and Spring Grove are all in York County, Pennsylvania.
