Bessie Mae Cartwright, 94, of Washington C.H., died Monday, May 16, 1998 at 2:35 a.m. in Court House Manor Nursing Home. Born July 23, 1893 in Fayette County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Hemmings Henderson. A former glove maker at the Jackson Glove Factory, Mrs. Cartwright was a well-known seamstress. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Janet Pennington of Washington C.H.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great- grandchildren and a special friend, Ruth Kellis, of Washington C.H. She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd H. Cartwright and eight brothers and sisters. Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, Washington C.H. with the Rev. E. Murray McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home between 4 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
