Albert, 79, of St. Rt. 335, Beaver, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in Pleasant Hill Manor, Piketon, Ohio. She was born April 20, 1921, in Idaho, Ohio, to the late Roy and Agnes Freshour Pennisten. On July 3, 1946, she married Kenneth Albert, in Pomeroy, Ohio, who survives. Also surviving are daughter, Marianne (Ron) Smith, Orange Port, Fla.; sister, Mae Moore, Waverly, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Jerry Smith, Crystal (Danny) Dyke, Dustin Smith and Shannon Smith. She was preceded in death by one son, John Barry Albert; two brothers, Kenneth and Kendall Pennisten; and one sister, Lyndall Camp. Mrs. Albert was a retired school teacher with 23 years service. Mary Ellen Patt, 75, a Gardnerville resident for the past 17 years, died Dec. 17, 1999 at her residence. No services will be held at this time. Ms. Patt was born July 6, 1924 in Bainbridge, (Ross County) Ohio, to Floyd and Julia Newland Sprinkle. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge; attended Northwestern University, Oklahoma State University, The Pratt Institute, University of California, Los Angeles, Santa Monica (Calif.) College and Western Nevada Community College. Prior to living in Gardnerville she resided in West Los Angeles. Ms. Patt retired as a budget analyst with Hughes Helicopters in 1982 and has since served as senate recording clerk for the Nevada State Legislature during legislative sessions. She was a member of the Ocean Park Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Santa Monica, Sierra Club, National Rifle Association, Audubon Society, Wilderness Society, North American Fishing Club, Women's International Bowling Conference, The Nature Conservancy, American Association of Retired Persons, and The American Legion. Ms. Patt was a member of the Methodist Church. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She loved hiking with her golden retriever, Cindy. Among her survivors are her son, Phillip A. Yoakum of Los Angeles; daughters, Sue Ellen Knabel, of Virginia City, and Julie Ann Cokonougher, of Gardnerville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
