Cokonougher rcokon@hotmail.com January 27, 2006, 2:55 pm From the 23 November 1999 Washington C.H, Ohio "Record-Herald": CHANCY OVERLY CHANCY OVERLY, 74, of Washington C.H. died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at 8.10 a.m. at the St. Catherine's Care Center where he had been a patient since August. He had been in failing health. Mr. Overly was born April 9, 1925 in Ross County, Ohio to WALKER OVERLY and CLARA SLAGER OVERLY. He lived most of his life in Ross and Fayette counties. He was a retired farmer and formerly a custodian in the Adena School System. Mr. Overly was a member of the Good hope United Methodist Church and the Good Hope Lions Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, KATHRYN SMITH in 1979. Mr. Overly is survived by his wife, the former KITTIE DOWNS, whom he married Dec. 20, 1969; two step sons and daughters-in-law, JOHN and TERESA DOWNS of Frankfort and TERRY and HEATHER DOWNS of (sic Washington C.H.); two step daughters, BARBARA SMALLWOOD of (sic Washington C.H.) and RUTH RIDGE and her husband, CHARLES, of New Baden, Illinois; five step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and three sisters and brothers-in-law, LUCILLE and JAMES MORRIS of Frankfort, MARTHA and CHARLES PHILLIPS of Chillicothe and RUTH and FORREST COKONOUGHER of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. with Danny Dodds, minister at the South Side Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at the Springbank Cemetery in Yellowbud, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home today (Tuesday) from 4 to 8 p.m. where a Lions Club service will be held this evening at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Hope Lions Club, c/o Raymond R. HOLLAR, 63, of Washington C.H. died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999 in Madison County Hospital in London after a brief illness. He was born March 341 1936 in Resaca, Ohio to CHARLES HOLLAR and HELEN (MORGAN) HOLLAR. He graduated in 1955 from Madison Mills High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He retired from General Motors in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, CHARLES "MOTTS" HOLLAR; and sisters, FRANCES BRAITHWAITE and CHARLOTTE JACOBS. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, DELORES KAYE (MCGOWAN) HOLLAR; daughters and sons-in-law, PAM and MARTIN MERRITT of Mt. Sterling; LORI and RUSS MILLER of Hilliard; three grandchildren, SARAH MERRITT, JOHN ROBERT and CHAD MILLER; brothers, HARVEY HOLLAR of McDonough, Ga.; JAMES HOLLAR of Mt. Sterling; sisters, ARIETTA (JIM) TIMMONS of Mt. Sterling; MARY (JACK) BRILL of Mt. Sterling; CORA (BILL) MATTHEWS of Springfield; MARTHA (FRANK) FOLLROD of Mt. He was born May 16, 1921 in Fayette County, the son of EPHRAIM HAINES and ROXIE (MCCORD) HAINES. He was a farmer and was retired from Cincinnati Milacron after 20 years of service and was a member of the East Monroe United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, ETHEL MAE (COKONOUGHER) HAINES, whom he married Feb. 17, 1946; two sons JERRY (REBECCA) HAINES, of Leesburg, and TONY (KATHY) HAINES, also of Leesburg; two daughters, KAY (PHIL) IRVIN, of Leesburg, and JOYCE (KELLIS) SMITH, also of Leesburg; 12 grandchildren, BRYAN, JENNIFER and JARROD HAINES, SHELLY BOLES, BRAD and BRENT IRVIN, KELLY KEETON, HEIDI and ANDY SMITH, SCOTT, KYLE, and ADAM HAINES, and NORM SAUNDERS; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, WILLIAM HAINES, MARION HAINES, FOREST HAINES, CHARLES HAINES and JAMES HAINES; four sisters, DOROTHY MCDONALD, ALICE PICHLER, MARJORIE FINLEY, VIRGINIA HAINES; and by both parents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at the East Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Max Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Whiteoak Grove Cemetery near Buena Vista. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield.
