HATER: MEMORIAM The Union Forever sadly reports the recent death of Fred H. Hatzer, retired plant superintendent at the Jackson works. "Mister Fred," as he was affectionately known, died of a heart attack at his home on the afternoon of November 4. He is survived by his widow, Lillian; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Fred retired on June 30, 1966, after completing more than 46 years of service to the company. He had tarted with Union Fork&Hoe in February of 1919 in the Columbus works Paint Department. In the fall of 1935 he was assigned to the new Jackson plant as assistant plant superintendent, where he helped to get the new plant into production. When the company purchased the Chattanooga Handle Co. In 1944, Fred was moved to Chattanooga as plant manager. After one year, he returned to Jackson as plant superintendent, a position he held until his retirement. Fred was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner of Wahabi Temple in Jackson. H was active in masonic work, and in conjunction with a friend, sponsored and coached a "Little League" baseball team for some years. Fred received a great deal of satisfaction from working with his "boys." Union Fork 7 Hoe will miss this dedicated employee. Additional Comments: Jackson Mississippi. Born June 27, 1932 in South Salem (Ross County, Ohio), she was the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy Ford and Mary Elizabeth Thomas Ford. On July 27, 1957 she married Delbert F. Gregg, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Bible Missionary Baptist Church, member and past president of VFW Post 6710 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary. She retired from Wal Mart in Albany, Ga. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom (Thelma) Ford of Wilmington, Robert (Elease) Tyler of Elmira, N.Y. and Bruce (Melvina) Gregg of Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice Johnson of Dayton; one brother and sister-in-law, James (Claire) Ford of Albany, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Jones of Circleville; grandchildren, Jerri Newton, Tim Ford, Tommy Ford, Elaina Johnson, Amanda Tyler, Beth Tyler, Amy Tyler, Alexis Sams, Brian Gregg and Christian Gregg; great-grandchildren, Laquita, Devon, Marcus, Christiana, Terrance, Timothy Cannon and Kiarra; and one sister-in-law, Rita Anderson of Wilmington.
