Mrs. Thomas Wanamaker 21 Nov 1852 to 16 Mar 1948 96y 3m 25d MRS. WANAMAKER TAKEN Mrs. Lucy Blackburn Wanamaker, 95, Shields Road, Boardman township, died of pneumonia Tuesday evening [16 Mar 1948]. She had been hospitalized the past five weeks after suffering a fractured hip in a fall in her home. Mrs. Wanamaker was born in Woodworth, Nov. 21, 1851, a daughter of William and Margaret Henry, and her entire life was spent in this vicinity. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, Cornersburg. Mrs. Wanamaker’s first husband, John Blackburn, died 53 years ago and her second husband, Thomas Wanamaker, died in 1925. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry H. Smith, Boardman township; two sons, Scott R. Blackburn of Canfield, and Floyd H. Blackburn of Warren; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services conducted by Rev. D.F. Alber, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday [19 Mar 1948] at the Williams Funeral Home, where friends may call Thursday evening. BURIAL Canfield Township Cemetery and Death Records, Mahoning County, Ohio, 1983, ps 22 & 90 [p 90: buried as wife of John Blackburn] Lucy Blackburn nee Henry Wanamaker was buried 19 Mar 1948 in the NW corner, by road, beside Sanzenbacher Mausoleum, in Canfield Village Cemetery, Canfield, Mahoning Co. OH Additional Comments: Comment: Neff Connection Mary A. Neff, daughter of Martin Neff and great granddaughter of Conrad Naff, married Floyd Blackburn on 12 Feb 1896. Floyd was the son of Lucy and John Blackburn. Floyd and Mary A. Neff were married just three years when she died on 27 Apr 1899, at the age of 34. ANNIE WILKINS DEAD Mrs. Annie Wilkins, 81, died at 11 o’clock Thursday forenoon [13 Aug 1936] at the home of her niece, Miss Anna Noll on South Broad street. Mrs. Wilkins was born in Bala, PA. Dec. 6, 1844. She and her husband came to Canfield 32 years ago. He died in 1925. Mrs. Wilkins had been in poor health for a long time, for several months confined to bed. Other local nieces beside Miss Noll are Mrs. RJ. Neff and Mrs. L.J. Deming. Funeral services will be in charge of Rev. L.P. McCulloch, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a member, and will be held from the Noll home Saturday afternoon [15 Aug 1937] at 2:30 o’clock, followed by burial in the village cemetery. Wilkins, age 87, died last Saturday night [31 Jan 1925] at his home on West Main street of infirmities incident to advanced years He was born in Brownsville, Pa., Nov. 30, 1837, where he grew to manhood. Before coming to Canfield 20 years ago he resided in Clairton, Pa., following his trade of carpenter. On March 25, 1886, he was married to Annie Hill who survives with one son, Ernest Wilkins, Pittsburgh. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Amanda Nichols, of Brownsville, Pa. Funeral services held from the residence Tuesday afternoon [3 Feb 1925] were conducted by Rev. W.P. Hollister, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the village cemetery. Note: Middle initial could be L., S. or G.
