She was born on July 6, 1924, in Bainbridge, Ohio, to Floyd and Julia Newland Sprinkle. She graduated from Bainbridge High School, attended Northwestern University, Oklahoma State University, The Pratt Institute, University of California at Los Angeles, Santa Monica College and Western Nevada Community College. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a budget analyst with Hughes Helicopters in 1982. She also served as Senate Recording Clerk for the Nevada State Legislature during sessions. Mrs. Patt was a member of Ocean Park Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Santa Monica, Calif., Sierra Club, National Rifle Association, Audubon Society, Wilderness Society, North American Fishing Club, W.I.B.C., The Nature Conservancy, AARP and the American Legion. She loved hiking with Cindy, her golden retriever. Surviving Mrs. Patt are her daughters Julie Ann COKONOUGHER of Gardnerville and Sue Ellen Knabel of Virginia City and son Phillip A. Yoakum of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional Comments: Mary Ellen was married previously to Elwood Cokonougher. He was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Ross County, the son of Frank Hester and Rose (CLARK) Hester. He was a retired construction worker who had served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4736. Survivors include one son, Wesley Hester of South Salem; six daughters and their spouses, Betty and Hughlen Hall of Wilmington, Marlene and Charlie Kessinger, Lynchburg, Ann and John Howard of Berea, Ky., Linda and David Hughes of New Vienna, Rose Adams of Wilmington, and Alice and Charles Cade of Wilmington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several great- great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona (Ramsey) Hester, who died Sept. 28, 1996; one son, Harvey Hester; one infant grandson; and three brothers, one sister, and both parents. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at Murray- Fettro Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will be in South Salem Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. He was a retired employee of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Surviving are two brothers, Howard of State College, Pennsylvania and David of South Salem. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie on November 22, 1963; and one brother, Charles. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Murray Funeral Home, Greenfield, with the Rev.
