Word has been received that Mrs. Lynch of Port Orchard, Wash., died in a hospital there of paralysis. Mrs. Lynch will be remembered as Mrs. Peter Hineline, who for many years was a resident of Port Clinton. Her first husband Peter Hineline, was an invalid for many years. About nine years ago she married Mr. Lynch, of Port Orchard, Wash., who preceded her to the grave about two years ago. She leaves one daughter Mrs. Bert Waterfield, two sons, Lester and Louis, and one brother Phillip Jackson, of Toledo. HESTER. Howard W. Hester, 83, of State College, Pa., a native of South Salem, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Hastings, Pa. He was born Aug. 12, 1916, in South Salem, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Carolina F. Strickrott Hester. He was graduated from Buckskin High School, attended New Orleans Baptist Cemetery (sic Seminary) for one year and Columbia Bible College in South Carolina for three years. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Southe Pacific theatre. He was retired from Penn State University, where he was a research aide at the Land and Water Institute. He also was a reporter and photographer with the Lock Haven Express for one year, the Times- Union and Democrat & Chronicle of Rochester, N.Y., and the Medina Daily Journal. He also was employed by U.S. Printing and Lithograph Co., St. Charles, Ill., and Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission, Chicago. Survivors include his wife, Dors A. Whipple Hester of State College, Pa., whom he married July 23, 1949; a daughter, Cheryl R. Hester of York, Pa.; sons Curtis A. and Ruth Hester of Hastings, Pa., and Paul H. Hester of State College, Pa.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, at noon at Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, Pa., with the Rev. Drew Fenstermacher officiating. Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park in State College. Minnie Alice Hester, 95, of Case Convalescent Center and formerly of South Salem, died at 12:43 p.m. Sunday, June 1 in Fayette Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. Born May 31, 1891 in Ross County, she was the daughter of James Lawson and Addie May Hester Wilson. A member of the South Salem Methodist Church and the South Salem Garden Club and former postmistress at South Salem, Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her husband Harley E. Hester on June 18, 1956. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Murray's Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Beckwith officiating. Burial will be in South Salem Cemetery. Retha M. Hester, 82, of Hillsboro, died early Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 at Heartland of Hillsboro. Retha was born June 13, 1918 at Latham in Pike County, a daughter of the late James and Luella (Humphrey) Roosa. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. She was a life member of VFW Post 9094 Auxiliary, Highland County Senior Citizens, a former member of the Senior Champion Board for 10 years and a former member of the governing board of Highland County Community Action Organization. Survivors include a son, Wesley Hester, of Greenfield; daughters, Alice (Charles) Cade, Betty (Hughlen) Hall and Rose Adams, all of Wilmington, Linda (David) Hughes, of New Vienna, Ann (Johnny) Howard, of Berea, Ky., and Marlene (Charles) Kessinger, of Allensburg. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, a son, Harvey Hester; grandson, Harvey Phillip Hester; and great grandson, Ryan Phillip Hester preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, were a sister, Anna Reno; brothers, Harold, John, Wesley, Harvey and Robert Roosa and Charles Humphrey. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro where the Rev. Wiley B. Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in the East Cemetery near Latham. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
