I have but few words to say. My father and mother is deceased [this] mother has been dead 3 years last fall and father has been dead 5 years [Dec.?] Orphdra lives on Flat Fork near Henpeck and Jake lives down near to Palmyra and Sister Ruth is dead and buried about 1 year, and I live near to the town of [Morrisville?] Ohio and I am very sorry to tell you the bad luck that I have had. I have had 12 live born children and out of them all 1 left and he is a great big fellow now and is nine in May and my wife is not so healthy has she might be. She is too delicate made to be healthy as most women. You might come and see me once more in your life. You must think yourself above me because you are a little better off in the world than me, but mind you that isn't the way to get along in this world for you won't be here always nor your wealth won't get you to heaven you may rely upon it. You might sell there and come and buy here for you can do as well here as you can there. You might think enough of me as to fetch your wife and see me for I can't come as well as you can. You haven't nothing to hinder you from it as I have. You now that I have not the extra that you have and I would like to see your wife as well as you if you would I would like you to come and see me. Send me a letter to let me know where you are and how you are getting along in these times and if you think yourself a brother to me, you might come and see me once in your [ ]. Come this summer and you might come and [bring] your family along as you haven't written me for so long a time I would like to hear from you this [trip?]. So you may think hard of me on this the price of [ ] is from 60 to 70 cents [more on prices per bushel of things I can't make out] I must bring this to a close so nothing more at present but ever remain your affectionate friend and brother and sister. Please to write as soon as you receive this, if you please without fail, if one won't do, send two, and then I will know where you are. Isaac Cazart Sarah Cazart Additional Comments: This letter was sent to Daniel Cazart, who lived in Greene County PA. Note they are spelling the surname differently than they did in prior letters, but it could have been written for them by someone different. What Isaac did not know is that his brother Daniel had died in 1841, and was not ignoring his letters. This letter was received by Daniel's wife and children. "Orphdra" is their sister, married to John Thompson; Jake is their brother; Ruth was another sister, married to John Reagan. Sadly, around this time Isaac's wife Sarah also left him and ran off with another man.
