(Pittsburgh, Pa.) 1860-1898: May 27, 1863 Died March 21st, 1863, near Morrow, Warren County, Ohio, of typhus fever, Prof. Lewis Caton, in the 61st year of his age. Prof. Caton was born at Annapolis, Maryland, January 26th, 1802. The earlier part of his life was devoted to -the study, and•.practice of the law, in which profession he took an eminent stand; but which he afterwards abandoned for the responsible and More arduous duties of an instructor of youth for which position he felt himself peculiarly adapted. Prof. C. has been devoted for the past twenty-five years to the education of youth, and stood prominent among the educators of the West. He was formerly Principal of "Cottage Hill Academy," near Pittsburgh, Pa., and at the time of his death was Principal Of the "Home School," near Morrow...
