More will follow. These transcriptions have not been proofread. The source I used for these transcriptions is microfilm publication M1803 from the National Archives Microfilm Publications. I purchased a copy from ProQuest Information and Learning, P.O. Box 1346, Ann Arbor, MI 48106-1346. The copy I purchased was produced by Heritage Quest, P.O. Box 540670, North Salt Lake, UT 84054-0670 (800-760-2455, www.HeritageQuest.com). Monty Johnson =============================================== In an introduction for microfilm publication M1803, the 1810 Census for Washington County, Ohio, the National Archives Microfilm Publications states, "The census schedules on this roll were contained in one bound manuscript volume that was unpaginated. The arrangement of the schedules is alphabetical by name of township." Thus, there are no page numbers of any kind on the original document. Because these census schedules were bound and appear face-to-face in the original volume, and in keeping with the practice on other bound census schedules, I have used the "A" and "B" designations for the required "Stamped No." block on the CenTrans software. For example, the 1810 census schedules for Adams Township, Washington County, Ohio were recorded on four pages, with two pages facing each other at a time. Therefore, I have used 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B as the "Stamped No." identifier, respectively. In addition to the individual family entries, the “A” pages contain the column headers, and the “B” pages contain the subtotal and total column figures for each township. The names as I have them transcribed are the result of very close and careful comparisons of handwriting and the use of highly magnified images when the interpretation was initially unclear. Where I had any doubt, I have used an asterisk (*) in place of unidentifiable letters. ===== The following is quoted from the INTRODUCTION to Microfilm Roll M1803, the 1810 Census of Washington County, Ohio: NATIONAL ARCHIVES MICROFILM PUBLICATIONS INTRODUCTION On the single roll of this microfilm publication, M1803, is reproduced population census schedules for Washington County, Ohio, from the third census of the United States, taken in 1810. The 1810 population census schedules received by the National Archives from the Bureau of the Census include none for the State of Ohio. In 1961, the schedules included on this roll of microfilm were in the Marietta College Library, Marietta, Ohio. That year, through the courtesy of the Library, they were loaned to the National Archives for microfilming. At that time, the negative microfilm was turned over to the Marietta College Library, while the positive was placed in the Microfilm Reading Room of the National Archives, Washington, DC. This positive copy was assigned the number GR3, by which it was referred to in the "Guide to Genealogical Research in the National Archives" (National Archives and Records Administration, revised 1985). In 1994, GR3 was assigned a new number, M1803, in order to issue it as an official National Archives Microfilm Publication. The census schedules on this roll were contained in one bound manuscript volume that was unpaginated. The arrangement of the schedules is alphabetical by name of township.
