Winter Street Delaware, Ohio 43015 July 5, 1998 *************************************************************************** KELLAR, JAMES MARIETTA TIMES, May 18, 1927; page 10 Obit notice for James Kellar, KELLAR FILE, Washington County Public Library, Marietta, Ohio JAMES KELLAR IS CLAIMED BY DEATH James Kellar, aged 78 years, Civil War Veteran, prominent resident of Warner, father of Mrs. Robert W. Knox, of Second Street, and John B.Kellar, of Phillips Street, died at his home in Warner on Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. Death was due to arteriosclerosis. Funeral services will be held at the home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Internment will bemade in the Universalist Cemetery at Lower Salem. Mr. Kellar was born on a farm near Caldwell on September 25, 1848, the eldest son of the late John and Mary Ann (Fowler) Kellar. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the Civil War and served in Company H 161st Ohio Volunteers Infantry, in the battle of Lynchburg and other engagements. He was honorably discharged September of 1864. Mr. Kellar was twice married. His first wife, Mrs. Harriet J. Hupp Kellar passed away in 1879 leaving four children. He later married Miss Tilly Magee, who survives with the sons and daughters, John B. Kellar andMrs. Edna Knox of Marietta; Mrs. William H. Klintworth of Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. J.H. Lauer of Newport, and Frank Kellar of Warner. There are 10 grandchildren. Brothers and sisters of the deceased are W.H. Kellar of Caldwell, and Mrs. Belle Williams of Middleport. Mr. Kellar was member of the John M. Mosely Post G.A.R. department of Ohio. In his early life he was a member of the Methodist Church at Dexter City.
