She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Alvy and Lona Gay Freshour. She worked for Doe Miller Sons for 25 years and retired in 1993. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are one daughter, Rita Woodyard of Little Hocking, Ohio; one son, Edward B. Dewees of Belpre; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Eloise Nutter of Marietta, Ohio, and Geneva Lynn of Belpre; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza B. Dewees; one son, Maynard Dewees; five brothers, Gail, Paul, Denzil, Donald and Bobby Jean Freshour; and two sisters, Lucille Beall and Madeline Reynolds. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Robert Clegg officiating, and burial in Rockland Cemetery.
