Witnefsett that the said Stephen Ford and Ruth his wife for and consideration of the sum of Fifty-two dollars lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand paid by the said George Halliwell at the execution hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Have granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presentz, do grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said George Halliwell his heirs and afsigns a certain in lot of Ground situated on the south side of Market Street [end of page 480] [page 481] in the town of Chippeway county of Wayne and State of Ohio marked on this plot of this said Town and numbered Fifty-four. Containing in front on said street Sixty feet, and in length of depth one hundred and twenty feet. To have and to hold the said demized lot, heriditeaments and premises hereby granted with the appurtenenances and privileges thereunto belonging unto the said George Halliwell his heirs and afsigns to and for the only proper use and behavf of this said George Halliwell his heirs and afsigns forever. And the said Stephen Ford for himself and his heirs, doth hereby covenant to and with the said George Halliwell his heirs and afsigns that he the said Stephen Ford will warrant and forever defend the above described lot to the said George Halliwell his heirs and afsigns against all personal claims whatsoever. In testimony where of the aforesaid Stephen Ford and Ruth his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first written. signed sealed and delivered in presence of } Jacob Vantz Stephen Ford (seal) James Moorez Jr Ruth Ford (seal) State of Ohio Jefferson County fs On the second day November in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peaces in the said County the above named Stephen Ford and Ruth his wife and severally acknowledge this above instrument of writing to be their voluntary act and deed for the purpose therein exprefsed and requested the same might be recorded as such, She the said Ruth being by me personally examined separate and apart from her said Husband and declared that she signed and as her act and deed delivered the same without any coercion or compulsion from her said husband. Chippeway was established in 1816. This village was known as Slankerville 1843 and as the village of Easton since 1853.
