STEELE, Elaine 'Sandy' -- age 77, of Quaker Heights Nursing Home, Waynesville, 
formerly of Franklin passed away Sunday January 27, 2002. She was born on July 
8, 1924 in Hamilton to John & Ida Gardner. In the 1940's, she was employed at 
Ford Motor Co. in defense work during the war and was a free lance night club 
singer with the big bands in the 1940's and 50's in southwest Ohio. She later 
enjoyed her affiliation with PAWS of Warren County in the placement of dogs. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. Steele and her daughter 
Deborah K. Steele. She is survived by her loving family; two sons Todd & his 
wife Angela Steele or Springboro, Frederick & his wife Claudia Steele of 
Point, Texas, two daughters Cheryl Steel of Springboro, Robin Steele of 
Centerville, & extended family member Karen Sword, one brother Glenn Paul 
Gardner of Hamilton. Private services at the convenience of the family. 
Interment in Bellbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made 
to Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 2780 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., 
Middletown, Ohio 45044 or SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45419.
