Robert Resler the sixth child and only son of John Resler and Catherine Melloy Neidy. Catherine had a daughter Elizabeth by William Neidy who died while the child was a baby, she had six daughters by John Resler. When Robert was 18 years old his father moved the family to Williams County, Ohio. Elizabeth Neidy, and Ann Resler were married and also came to Williams County, Ohio. Susan Resler was married and stayed in Pennsylvania with her family. After arriving in Williams County, John Resler bought 30 acres of land in the extreme northwest corner of Springfield Township for a cost of $380.00. He paid $200.00 down. Robert went to work on the canal which was being built from Toledo, Ohio through Defiance, Ohio and on to southern Indiana. Robert earned the other $180.00 and paid off the debt. On the first of April 1847 Robert at age 28 crossed over into Michigan to get a marriage license and to marry Margaret Jane Kirtz who was 17 at the time. The couple moved in with John and Catherine and cared for them as long as they lived. They were given the 30 acres for caring for his parents. Robert first bought 6 adjoining acres and later bought 80 more. Written in Robert's Bible, Catherine died at home 6 June 1852 and in his 73rd year John died, 18 March 1863. Robert sold the 116 acres for $2900.00. In 1865 he then bought 132 acre farm in Superior Township, Williams County, Ohio and moved there when Minnie was 6 weeks old. He paid $2200.00 for this farm and had $700.00 left over. This farm remained in the family for 58 years. It was sold early in 1921 following Margarets death. The farm is located 1 mile east and 1 & 1/2 mile north of Montpelier, Williams County, Ohio. The older ten children were born in Springfield Township, Williams County, Ohio. Robert and Margaret are both buried at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Williams County, Ohio. *********************************************************************** WILLIAMS COUNTY OHIO - Old Pulaski Cemetery RESLER, John, died Mar. 18, 1862, "in the 88th. year of his age". If he died at age 88 he would then be born in 1774, but if he was 73 in 1850 he would have been born in 1777. RESLER, Catharine, w/o John, died June 1, 1852, aged 72 years. RESLER, John, s/o R. & M.?, died Feb. 1, 1851, 5m, 26d. John and Catharine are buried on a lot 1/2 mile West of Pulaski and Northeast of Bryan, Williams County, Ohio. Their grandson John, Robert's son is also buried there. They are in row 5. John and Catharine had 7 Children, Margaret, Susan, Ann, Jane, Tobert, Mary, Priscilla. Robert Resler and Margaret had 12 Children, Mary Elizabeth, John, Roxy Jane, George Barnes, William Emerson, Jonathan Barnes Kirtz, Alice Ann, Charles Almeron, Reuben Strait Shorthill, Armina Priscilla, Arvilla Mae, Bertha Fern. Jonathan Barnes Kirtz Resler b.30 June 1857-d.13 July 1911 and Mary Jane Laughlin b.10 April 1852-d.28 March 1905 had one Child, Maqgie Maroah Resler who Married Jolly Waswhington Hillard on 4 August 1903 in Ferris Center, Ferris Township, Montcalm County, Michigan. Jolly Washington Hillard b.29 May 1881-d.1 March 1952 and Maggie b.14 August 1882-d.2 September 1961 had 8 Children, Owen Barns b.30 May 1906-d.18 July 1984, Otis Marcibilus b.21 April 1908-d.8 March 1962, Cassius Kirtz b.7 July 1910-d.10 July 1984 , Mark Jolly b.30 May 1912-d.22 August 1996, Joseph Laru b.29 April 1914-d.12 October 1972, Mary Olive b.4 October 1915-d.21 November 1976, Jolly Adelbert b.25 September 1918-d.30 April 1920, Allie Eileen b.6 May 1923-d.20 March 2003. Owen Barns Hillard Married Frances Dorothy Palmberg, b.2 April 1909-d.21 August 1991, on 31 May 1927, daughter of Emil Palmberg b.12 March !874-d.6 June 1938 and Marie Louise Beck b.23 April 1887-d.3 April !972. Owen and Dorothy had 7 Children. Five Children are still living as of this date 1 April 2007. 1. Living b. 10 March 1928 2. Dorothy Jean Hillard b.4 May 1929 d.23 May 2006 3. I also have Mercer, Bordner, (Osborne) (Osborn), Lewis, Hoover, Ancestors in Williams County. Norris, Barnes, Fulton County, Perez Hillard and Phillip Bordner in Crawford County, Other Counties in Ohio with Ancestors listed are Wayne, Fulton, Wood, Defiance, Crawford, and Geauga where Perez Hillard & Clarissa Kimball my GGG Grandparents were married in 1812...
