In 1840 he came with his parents to America. They settled near Zanesville, O., where they remained about one year. Then moved to Wood County, O., where his bothood days were spent. He came to Williams County about the year 1868 where he has since remained. In November 1871, he was married to Almeda PHILLIPS. To this union were born eight children, two having died in infancy and one, Caroline, died at the age of six months. Those remaining to mourn their loss are the companion, two sons, John and Charles, three daughters, Mrs. Mark LEIDIGH, Mrs. Fred WALKER, Mrs. Harvey REICHMAN, and Mrs. Neri NEWCOMER, a niece, who was a member of the family from early childhood, six grandchildren, one brother and a host of relatives and friends. He was a patient sufferer for nearly six months, with never a word of complaint and wishing at all time to have his own family care for him which they did cheerfully and willingly. He always had a kind word for all and a heart full of thanks for each act done to relieve his suffering. What a comfort and consolation to the remaining ones. What a memory for his loved ones to cherish through life. CARDS OF THANKS To the friends and neighbors who assisted and sympathized with us during the sickness and in the death of our father, we extend our sincere thanks, also to the singers and minister as well as for the floral offerings.
