She emigrated with her parents to Calhoun County, Michigan in 1837. Here she resided for a couple of years, coing with her parents to Bridgewater Township, (William County, OH) reaching there Feb. 2, 1840. Her parnts bought 80 acres of land on September 23rd, at $5.00 per acre, built a log cabin wihout nails or boards, and paid for the farm in work. She resided on the homestead until 1850, when she moved with her parnets to the new farm home of 184 acres in section 22,same township. The deceased, at the age of 16 years began teaching school, following this laudable occupation in a primative way for 12 or 13 succesive terms. There are gry headed men and women, many of them, who first learned to lisp their ABC's under her tutorage, as wellas receiving instructions in more advanced studies. The school houses were mostly built of logs, small in size, and when she surrendered the ruler to enter upon the duties incident to married life, there were but three frame school houses in Bridgewater township, and these miniature in size as compared to the present school strutures of this and other townships throughout the county. April 13, 1854 she was united in marriage to Simon Waterston, and on the 27th day of their wedding month, they settled upon Section 28 in Bridewater Township, where they began the battle of life in earnest. Here they resided until Marcy, 1888, when they moved into their new hom erected by themselves in Montpelier, (Ohio) where deceased resided until the pale horse and his rider summoned her to cross the river having lived together in blissful contentment for a period of 51 years, 2 months and 2 days. To this union wree born 2 sons and 2 daughters; George Tough Wterston and Mrs. Ann C. (Waterston) Hayes of Bridgewater township, Frank L. Waterston of this city, and Mrs. Jennie A. (Waterston) Bauer of Northeast township, all of who are living and have families. There is left to mourn, a kind husband, one brother, two sisters four children and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Waterston was one of God's noble mothrs. She lived to honor her husband and children, and no sacrifice was too great for her to make in their behalf. But her true womanhood did not stop at the threshold of home in the discharge of finial duties, her charity towards others was as boundless as the ocean, circumscribed only by her limited strength and physical endurance. She was an ideal christian. She loved the church and Sunday school, and her accustomed seat in the sanctuary was seldom vacant while health and strenght permitted her to be there to enjoy it's may blessings and soul satisfying privilages. She loved the Bible and in her declining years of ill health, found great comfort in pursuing it's pages, especially that portion known as "The Gospels". The funeral was held from the home at 1:30 p.m. last Saturday, attended by a very large concourse of elatives and sympathizing friends, who came to pay their last tribute of respect to this sainted mother. The discourse was preached by Rev. C.E. Lowney, in absence of her pastor, which was full of comfort to the mourning friends assembled. A ladies quartet furnished sweet and appropriate music. Flowers and wreaths arranged by loving hands enveloped the remains all of the forenoon and during the funeral hour. After the service all that were mortal of this good, kind mother was placed in the casket by undertaker friend and wife, and conveyed to Riverside Cemetery, there to sweetly slee till the morning of resurrection.
