Then he had been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith also. Later he learned the trade of masonry. In 1869 he emigrated to the U. S. A. and came right from New York to Edgerton, O., working on his trade. The year following he united in marriage to Marie Agnes Meier. Both moved then to Edon, then to Melborn and back to Edon again, living there then all the time till one and one-half years ago, when they came to Bryan where brother Wagner died. God blessed this union with 7 children, of whom one little boy died in infancy. The remaining 6 children are George, Willie, Barbara Haeusaier, Margarette Dygard, Mathilde Knecht, and Mary Thrapp. Mr. Wagner enjoyed good health till about two years ago, when he took sick and since then he has been suffering more or less all the time, but especially hard the last five weeks preceding his death. Last Wednesday the 17th of November at 9:40 p. m., he was redeemed by a peaceful death of all earthly afflictions at an age of 69 years, 10 months, and 2 days and leaves to mourn his companion, his six children, four sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren, and many friends. The deceased had been a faithful member of the Lutheran church all his life time. The funeral services were held in the German Lutheran church at Edon, O., on Saturday, November 22, at 10 o’clock and the remains laid to rest there also. The Revs. F. Henklemann and A.
