Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Mar 15, 1867, p. 3. DIED. On Thursday morning, March 7, after an illness of four weeks, Lieutenant Edward L. Baird, of Perrysburg, Ohio. Resolutions of Condolence. At a special meeting of the members of Post No. 38 of the Grand Army of the Republic, held March 8, 1867, at Perrysburg, Ohio, the following amongst other proceedings, were had: Whereas, Our friend and comrade, Lieutenant Edward L. Baird, after having safely passed through many hard-fought battles, in four years' service in the Army of the Union unharmed, now when peace has succeeded war, and our brave companion in arms had returned home to enjoy, with his family and friends, the well-earned honors and fruits of his services to his country, God, in His inscrutable wisdom has removed him from this life; And, while we humbly submit to the will of our Heavenly Father, "who doeth all things well," yet, we cannot but mourn the loss of our friend and former companion in arms and earnestly sympathize with his deeply afflicted widow and orphan children; Therefore, be it Resolved That, as a public expression of our grief, we will wear the usual badge of mourning. Resolved, That we tender to the widow of our late brother in arms and his orphan children, our unfeigned sympathy in this, their darkest hour of earthly afflictions. Resolved, That a copy of these proceedings, signed by the proper officers, be presented to the widow and children of our late comrade, and also to his mother, and that a copy be furnished to the Editor of the Perrysburg Journal, with the request that it be published. P.S. Slevin, Post Commandant, Earl W. Merry, Post Adjutant.
