Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Jan 23, 1862, p. 2. DIED. On the 9th inst., at the residence of Y. Phillips, 3 miles out on the McCutchinville road, Lucius Carey, aged 21 years and 6 months. The deceased was a soldier in Company K, 21st Regiment. He took the typhoid fever at Camp Nelson, soon after his arrival at Louisville, and was transferred to the hospital at that place, where he lay eight or ten weeks. At his earnest solicitation, his brother, who is Ward Master of Hospital No. 4, finally obtained a furlough and brought him home. During his illness his thoughts were almost continually among his companions in arms, and but a few minutes before he expired he called for his gun and one of his tent-mates. He arrived home on Wednesday and died on Thursday. The sympathies of his many friends are with his aged mother, who, though pained to part with her dear son, is joyed to known [sic] that he died an accepted follower of the Savior, "with his armor on". His funeral sermon was preached by Rev. G.A. Adams.
