Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Feb 15, 1865, p. 3. Obituary. The death of Charles Dewit, Esq. of Perry township, Wood county, will attract the attention of many friends and acquaintances. He departed this life, January 25th, without any warning, being in his usual health. He came in from his wood-house, and when he reached his room, fell partially to the floor, and breathed his last, with no one but his wife present. His remains were interred in the Milgrove cemetery, on the 28th. His death is greatly lamented. He leaves a wife and two sons. His end was peace. Mr. Dewit was a careful reader of agricultural books and periodicals, and judiciously applied the knowledge thus acquired in his practical operations. A man of strict entegrity [sic] and honesty of purpose, he enjoyed in an eminent degree, the respect and esteem of the community. We thus chronicle the departure of another of the enterprising band who have done much for the advancement of the material, mental, and moral interests of the people of North Western Ohio. Those we love are passing from u s, To a fairer, brighter sphere -- Where kindred spirits re-unite, Whom death hath torn asunder here. If this be true, how sweet to die, And leave this dreary world afar, To meet the loved ones gone before, And soar away from star to star. J.K.
