Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Dec 17, 1862, p. 3. DIED. On the 16th of November last, in the hospital at Mitchelville, Tennessee, of typhoid fever, John A. Fox, Jr., of Company H., Fourth Michigan Cavalry, aged 21 years 1 month and 5 days. He was a native of Webster township, and leaves parents, brothers and sisters, who deeply mourn his loss. He became a volunteer in the private ranks of his country's defenders, and gave up his life cheerfully to the performance of military duty. His surgeon writes thus to his parents: He came under my treatment five days before his death. We gave him a decent Christian burial, on land owned by Mr. Woodal, where several members of the regiment are buried. Their graves are marked. Your son said but little, and did not appear to suffer much after he was taken sick. He was a kind, quiet, gentlemanly young man, and his comrades say always brave, and a good faithful soldier. We mourn him as another brave and true man fallen at the post of duty. Let this be your consolation. Accept my earnest sympathy with you and yours in this severe affliction, and believe me Very truly yours, Geo W. Fish, Surgeon Fourth Michigan Cavalry.
