Died.

	On Thursday, August 3, 1865, Augustus La Ferre.

	At a regular communication of Phoenix Lodge No 123, F. and A.M., held 
at their Lodge Room, August 7, 1865, the following preamble and resolutions 
were unanimously adopted:

	Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God in his wise Providence to remove 
from this life our esteemed and beloved brother, Augustus LaFerre, and,

	Whereas, It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy for his bereaved 
family and friends, that we receive this dispensation of Divine will, therefore 
be it

	Resolved, that in him, we as men, have lost a true friend, as Masons, a 
true brother, ever ready to aid and assist Masons by word or deed, and in him 
the community have lost an upright citizen and honest man.

	Resolved, that we hereby tender to the bereaved family and friends of 
the deceased our most sincere sympathy, recommending them for consolation to 
that Hand which tempers the wind to the shorn lamb, and does not willingly 
afflict or grieve the children of men.

	Resolved, That we as Masons will strive to profit by this another 
example of the shortness and uncertainty of human life, and so endeavor to do 
our work in the Lodge below, that when we are at last called from labor to 
refreshment, we may enter the Celestial Lodge above, that Temple not made with 
hands eternal in the heavens.

	Resolved, That a copy of the resolutions be forwarded to the family of 
the family [sic] of the deceased by the secretary of this Lodge.
