DIED.

	January 10, 1868, at the residence of Geo. J. Knoll, of consumption, 
Miss Frankie Nellis, aged 18 years and 23 days.

	Oh, Death! where are thy cruel stings?

	Oh, Grave! where is thy victory?

	Thou hast but given her spirit wings,

	And set her soul at liberty.

	I knew her not; but in her shroud,

	While mourning friends around did crowd,

	I saw her lying, as in sleep.

	No mother did for Frankie weep -

	No father's tear for Frankie fell;

	But, Oh! the sight of friends did tell

	How much they loved her, and how well

	And as I gazed upon that form,

	Which ne'er again life's blood shall warn,

	A fiery thrill shot through my soul,

	And I, my tears, could scarce control.

	There, dim and sightless was that eye,

	Which lately beamed so radiantly;

	There, closed forever were those lips,

	Whose voice a solemn stillness keep;

	There, pale and cold as marble stone,

	Those cheeks, where blushes lately shone.

	And as the grave received the corse [sic],

	Oh! what deep feelings of remorse

	Came o'er us; and what vows we made.

	As we our last kind office paid,

	And on the hollow coffin's lid

	They rolled the heavy, frozen clod,	

	Whose solemn rumbling seemed to bid

	Us to prepare to meet our God.
