[obituary of Catherine Hahn Roether]. Perrysburg Journal. Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Apr 4, 1891. Page 5. On Tuesday, March 31, 1891, at 9 o'clock p.m., Mrs. Roether, wife of B.M. Roether, aged 53 years, 6 months and 24 days. Catherine Hahn Roether was born in the seventh of September, 1837, in Konigsreich, Reinbaien, in the city of Ruccheim. When ten years of age she came to this country with her parents Jacob Hahn and Catherine Hahn Stauffer, who settled near Perrysburg. At fourteen years of age, she attended confirmation at Maumee, under the pastorate of the Lutheran minister, the late Rev. Mr. Markscheffel. On the seventeenth of December, 1853, she was united in marriage with Burchart Michael Roether. She was the mother of eleven children, seven boys and four girls, eight of whom, five boys and three girls, together with her husband and aged mother, still survive to mourn their loss. During the four months of her illness, through which she remained conscious and faithful to the last, she hopefully trusted in the power of the Saviour to bear her safely through her worldly suffering. The funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church on Friday, at 10 a.m., by Rev. Kaeting, and the remains were interred in Fort Meigs cemetery. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors attended the funeral obsequies.
